That First impression does really count
Make sure the first glimpse the prospective tenants get at your house is a welcoming positive one. Simply with a tidy of the garden and quick clean of the front door does the trick
Why not repaint the front door to give it a new lease of life? Perhaps some hanging baskets with flowers in to brighten up their approach to the property and bring some more colour to your doorstep.
Refresh!
A spot of new paint can work wonders! Make sure you have neutral décor throughout as it will not only makes it feel light and spacious but will appeal to a wider range of people. Little changes such as changing cupboard or drawer handles can also make a big difference in bringing old looking fittings back to life.
Think about changing worn carpets for new tiling or laminate flooring. This will be much harder wearing if you are renting for the long term.
Brighten up the space!
To make the property feel more spacious.
Make sure the windows and windowsills are clean to brighten up the property. All light bulbs should be working, and lights have lampshades or light coverings on.
It is always great if curtains or blinds are supplied for the windows. Keep these neutral and think about removing any heavy or dark drapes that block out too much light.
Tidy up the garden
No need to get Alan Titchmarsh in! A good tidy up of the garden and mow of the lawn is the final touch in making your property feel welcoming and homely
Furnished or Unfurnished?
A question that many first-time Landlords ask is whether Tenants would prefer furnished or unfurnished properties. The majority of our clients have their own furniture and are seeking unfurnished properties. Remember if you do decide to go furnished – all soft furnishings must comply with regulations and you should always remove any bits of furniture that you love just in case they are damaged and cannot be replaced!
